The first part of this book is directed towards Bentley's children, telling them about all of the major mistakes he made.
The second part is comprised of three speeches - all with a focus on learning from other people's experiences. Sometimes, we all think that we're good to listen to certain people. Nothing could further from the truth.
When some successful people leave bad neighborhoods, they don't look back. Maybe them looking back could save one or two people.
Are they that selfish or is there something else people aren't talking about?
I believe that we must understand the reasons why some people don't give back so we can assist them - instead of assuming that successful people are content with hoarding the information that freed them from a life destined to be wrought with crime and poverty. This is an uncomfortable conversation that WE NEED TO HAVE!!!
Self-reflection is one of the most difficult yet fulfilling actions any person could ever execute in their life. It's always easy to see what OTHER PEOPLE should be doing. It's very hard to stare in the mirror and admit what YOU should be doing. Many leaders have this problem.
I dare you to blame nobody but yourself for your problems and the state of your life. Better yet, I triple dog dare you!!!
It's going to be painful at first, but after you see the rewards, you'll be more than happy.
